Frequently Asked Questions
Please refer below for my frequently asked questions, if your question isn’t addressed please send me an email at info@shirleyliangtattoos.com.
How do I book a tattoo?
I open my books for new client inquiries 1 to 2 times a year. Leading up to my books opening I’ll make a public announcement on my newsletter and social media with the exact dates and instructions for how to send in your inquiry and what info to include. While my books are closed I don’t review inquiries for new pieces.
You can also get a piece from me by booking a last minute opening. Occasionally I have availability during the year due to reschedules/cancellations. Please follow me on instagram as I’ll post the available dates there if they come up.
How far out are you booked?
I typically book for the upcoming 6 to 8 months at a time. New projects only need to be started during this period, not completed.
What is your pricing?
When your project is accepted I’ll set up a video call where I’ll go over the specific details of your piece with you and provide an estimate of how many sessions the tattoo will require and the total cost.
Do you do guest spots?
I’ve done guest spots in the past and am open to more in the future. I don’t currently have plans to travel but if this changes I’ll update on my Instagram and newsletter.
Do you do cover-ups?
Yes, I accept inquiries for cover-ups, please send up-to-date photos of the piece to be covered along with the rest of your inquiry. On our video call we’ll determine if laser tattoo removal is necessary.
Do you do have a waiting list?
I do not keep a waiting list at this time.
Do you send your designs ahead of time?
Clients will be sent a rough sketch in colour during our initial consultation call to give them an idea of the direction I’m planning for the piece. I don’t send fully rendered designs ahead of my appointments.
In my experience design reviews are best done together in-person where we can make adjustments in real-time, print out the individual elements of the design and assess them as we see them on your body. I don’t send my designs ahead of time because often the piece evolves as we’re fitting it for you and a composition can look very different flat compared to fitted for your body.
I also understand that it can be daunting to come in on the day of your tattoo appointment without a clear idea of what your piece will look like and offer the option to book your design review and fitting as a short session ahead of your tattoo appointment (virtual fittings sessions with limited scope is available for clients located out of town).
